At a guess i would think u mean steraliser and the one i use is called sterex but they all work good including sodium metabasulphate, bleach, stericlean etc.
as long as they do the job its all good ( u will know if they dont work  )
but i wouldnt trust hot water unless it is absoloutely scorching!

used to use bleach, but too much rinsing. Now use idophor, $6 for 250ml, use 1 ml per litre and dont have to rinse. 8)

I use Iodophor - as Duane says just 1ml per litre - very economical.

Also use Milton tablets at times too.

I don't use anything anymore. I have come to the conclusion it is a waste of time. I haven't used any sterilising agent for the last 6 months and have not had any problems. I give everything a proper clean with hot water and thats good enough. If there is a need for heavy cleaning after a particularly messy ferment, then the Chux and washing soda does the trick. Other than this a hot rinse will do.

I'm with terry on this one, I too have seen the light. Everything except the bottles get the hot water. Bottles get a rinse of that baby bottle sanitiser and that's it.

Terry, the hot water's probably doing the sterilizing for you.

I usually wash the fermenter with bleach straight after I've bottled. Then I rinse with scortching hot water. When I am ready to start a new brew, I steralize with sodium metabisulphate. I don't mind the smell and it seems to do the trick.
You deserve a cascade draught.

Thats my story and I'm sticking to it. Besides, I would only rinse any sterilising agent off with tap water so whats the difference? In my opinion, it is better to wash away any nasties rather than just kill them which is why I don't trust these no rinse agents.
