best commercial brew

Post by melbourne man »

what do you reckon is the best value for money commercial brew out there?

how would you rank coopers sparkling ale for its value for money?

i reckon boags strongarm is pretty good for its cost.

Tooheys Old by a long way is the best value brew on the market.

I have to agree with Haggis, Tooheys Old is the best commercial beer in Oz by far.

I would rate Coopers sparkling up there as one of the best as well, but i think tooheys Old is the standard that all others are judged by.

I'd agree, I like CSA more but it's more pricey where I am.

Macs Black, Reserve, Copperhop, & maybe the blonde under $15 for a 6 pack. Monteiths rate too in my opinion.

Tooheys Old is a pretty decent drop. It's usually cheap as well. I'm a fan of Cascade Amber at the moment.

If you ever get to Wellington (NZ), hunt out the Sassy Red beer on tap at Shed 5 (seafood restaurant and bar). Macs bought the recipe and brew it commercially but it's not as good as the barrel stuff that came from the micro brewery.

Tooheys Old is a good drop and great value for money at about 33-37 bucks for a case.

Coopers Sparkling I like better and $40 is the cheapest that I can get when on special.

The best IMO, but dear, is the Little Creatures Pale Ale.
A homebrew is like a fart, only the brewer thinks it's great.

Um, I can get them at both my local bottle shop and supermarket. Supermarket is $53, bottle-o is $55 per carton of 12. Have a look in the fridge when you walk in, they often have them individually, just ask for a slab of them (but check the price first, I was once charged $75 for a carton, but that was in Mt. Beauty).

Best value brew is Coopers Pale Ale by a country mile - it is dirt cheap in SA (I once picked up a half-carton for $15!).

Sparkling Ale is well worth the extra though.

Tooheys Old is excellent value and delightful off the tap, but I reckon I prefer Coopers Dark Ale which is a similar price.
Coopers.

I love Toohey's Old, but have to admit I much prefer it on tap than in the bottle. What is the difference, or I am imagining it.

That's probably because you paid more for it.

Coppers Lager aint too bad for money

otherwise Pure Blonde,

I know I am going to be shot down, but for a summer BBQ style beer, its good value for money (normally $35 at Dan Murphys)
pilsner is the love of my life...
