Gidgee Jack's Last Beer
Guys,
Below is a great poem about beer and homebrew written by one of our members. He was having trouble posting it, so I'm doing it for him.

Gidgee Jack's Last Beer
By Ross Magnay
Gidgee Jack was quite a drinking man, he had been all his life,
It cost him all his money, his station and his wife.
So Jack moved to the city, and commenced on council pay,
But what he earned in one whole week, he drank in just one day!
Now Jack was not a spirits man, he mostly fancied ale,
But the pace that he consumed it would turn Ernie Dingo pale!
A dozen pints at knock off time, twelve longnecks for the track,
Yes he was quite a drinking man, was our mate Gidgee Jack.
But mowing grass and raking leaves, would not support his thirst,
And Jack was suicidal, (or something even worse!)
Then an idea struck him, just like lightning from the blue,
"I'll get myself a flamin' kit, and make me own homebrew!"

Gidgee Jack
Move over A.B. & Henry, there is a new boy on the block.Great yarn from Ross.Suppose we have all met a Jack in one form or the other.I wonder what happened to his kit?Seems a waste.Anyhow that what happens when you take a boy out of the bush.City life does it I'm sure
I've heard bush poems with the same flavour as this one at the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Gidgee Jack's plight is by far and away one of the best yarns i've ever read. I reckon you should give it a run for its money at next years festival (prize money's pretty good I've heard) if you can get down there.
Also the festival itself is well worthwhile going to if you like live music and plenty of beer. It's not all counrty music either (alot of great blues and rock). I'm 22 and have been there the last 4 years in a row. You just walk into a pub and if you don't like the music go to the next one (there's about 12 pubs all within walking distance in the inner city-very dangerous in 30+ degrees C heat).
You should pen a few more of these, perhaps make a Gidgee Jack series.
Cheers,
Jay.

Ross - A VERY serious question:
A good mate of mine writes and sings Aussie country style songs (he actually sent some lyrics to Dusty which I think were recorded) and wonder if you would mind me offerinig 'Gidgee Jack' to him as a base to a possible song?
Full credit (copyright) will come to you, obviously.

EVERYTHING is worth my interest!
