Woo hoo.
I've 50 buck to spend on beer from Work for the 'end of project' do!
We've picked the Belgioan Beer Cafe in the Rocks (Sydney) and I need some tips from those of you who are seasoned quality beer quaffers.

At $4.50-$12 per beer Work buget will only get me so far so I'll need to suppliment the kitty to make the event memorable.
Any suggestions of favourites would be most welcome.

Seriously, I don't think you can go too far wrong with the beers at BBC.
I mean, even if you try one you don't like, you're not going to die wondering. And with work chipping in, it's not like you're going to feel ripped off if you don't enjoy it.

Im not shy about it Oliver it's more a frenzied need to taste those lucious brews!
And I need to start somewhere and will not make it through the extensive range on offer.
No matter how much I talk it up.

If god is in his heaven he would be drinking and making Roefort (sp)..possibly the most magnificent beer in the world..served by the way..in a Chalice. My interpretaion (using the Westmalle yeast though ) made in 2003 came first in the ACT 2004 AABC comp and again first in the Nationals...not up to the original but a beer without peer.....
It will cost you maybe $20 a 330ml (its $12 or so at the bottlo)..share the love...
or is it beyond us meere mortals (joking!) or it could be a state (I mean territory) secret!

as a result of this thread I checked out the website for the cafe, now I just HAVE to visit it!
Anyone been? What was your opinion? Are bookings essential since we're coming down from the mountains especially?
Last bar llike this that I went to was in Chinatown called "Big Trouble in little china" or something. Many years ago, to my 19 year old eyes they had what appeared to be an endless list of imports...
I have only been to the Belgian Beer Cafe in Adelaide and I must admit I do like the attention they give to the beer glasses
they rinse an already clean glass with cold water, pour the beer and then rinse off any overflow beer
Leffe Vieille Cuvee - the best beer i have ever had. Not too expensive either.
Duvel is really good, strong
Hoegarden Grand Cru is great
Chimay Bleue is great
Timmermans Gueuze was almost undrinkable for me........very strange. Tasted like a beer was poured into a white wine. Yuk.
