Lets face it though, nearly any Pilsener is a great beer, but I would have to say that Pilsner Urquell is about as close to the perfect beer as I have tried.

Xtract Pilsener is a fine HB and I also found that morgans Golden Saaz with and extra 20gms of Saaz is a bloody good drink as well.

Get some bock in ya.

Other options are Monteiths black beer, a schwarzbier or paulaner munich/oktoberfest.

Lagers dont need to be boring.

Well, I went to my local and bought a Pilsner Urquell and I must say it was very nice with what I detected as a hint of florally/polleny flavour. But unfortunately there's still something about a lager that doesn't sit right with me - could be the lingering dryness in the aftertatse; dunno. So I guess that confirms it - I'm an ale person.

It all depends on the temperature on the day, what you've been doing, what you just ate, how thirsty you are, how drunk you are, how ugly your woman is, if you've been fighting, the size of the poo you just took, whether you're young or old, gay or straight, black or white, male or female...blah blah blah.

I reckon every moment calls for a beer that is diferent from the last one.

Just to get back on thread :), I'm more of an ale man, myself.

Probably 90-95 per cent of the beer I drink is ale.

But not much beats a Pislner Urquell if you're looking for a great lager. As has been said, this is close to the perfect beer.

Crown Lager is possibly the worst beer ever brewed. A massive victory of marketing over quality.

What annoys me most about Crowns is that it is supposedly a "premium" beer. Premium is not a word I'd associate with Crownies.

Most CUB beers tasted good to me until I started making homebrew. Drinking homebrew or beers like Coopers then going on to CUB beers leaves a horrible after taste in my mouth. If I start on CUB beers though the taste is totally different (OK)
