Sending Dogger Dan a 6 pack for Christmas
Here's a worthy cause, and you don't have to listen to Bob Geldof or a load of his shitey old muso mates to get involved.
Our friend Dogger Dan is cruelly deprived of the best Australian brewing has to offer. Worse, he is under the delusion that he needs to drink a VB to make his life complete.
Dogger, give us a wish list of the six Australian beers you would most like to try. I would suggest Cooper's Pale Ale & at least one Mountain Goat brew as a good starting point, but it's up to you to nominate 6 375ml bottles of your choice.
The rest of the forum, post the amount you would be willing to kick in towards the cost of beers & postage. If 10 of us kick in $5 or $10 each that should be plenty. 6 beers= say $20, postage won't be more than $40 or so airmail.
When there are enough pledges I will email donors my bank details for them to deposit the cash. I will then buy the beers DD chooses, pack them & ship 'em off.
I'll start off by putting $10 in the pot.

Dropped into the Australia Post website for a quick bit of logistics.
Australia, we have a problem:
Sorry, all. I was in favour of the idea and would have even been in for a gew dollars.
Greg.

They also seemed really antsi about bees, bee keeping stuff and honey etc.Alcoholic Beverages
The importation of alcoholic beverages (including wine) to Canada is strictly prohibited unless being mailed to a Provincial Liquor Board or Commission, or to a manufacturer or distributor of such beverages in Canada.

I just might be able solve that issue,
Any of you from a small town know that rules tend to be pretty rubbery. The guy who runs the LCBO in my home town would likely take this on as a personel quest and would rather enjoy the quasi illegality of it all
I will look into it
Dogger.
PS.
By the way, the only reason I would try the VB first is that apparently, after listening to you guys, the only thing I can look foreward to is an improvement
Thanks for the thought guys

Dan, get your guy on board pronto, and give us your list.
Greg, stop worrying- the most you will lose is a few dollars. No one ever went to jail for sending a beer to Canada.
And my name will be on the parcel as the sender anyway. Australia leads the world in being antsy about bees & honey in my experience, by the way.
MORE PLEDGES PLEASE.

Quality stuff, Greg & Steve.
That's $40- halfway there already!
"Get down & stay down..The air in that town is thick with/Ho Chi Minh on the jukebox/that little girl she's American made/Ain't been no profits here since the war/Hell sucks, they tell me"- will add another tenner if anyone can tell me what I'm listening to as I type this. C'mon, it's easy!

I'm in, UC1. I'll fix you up when I head over to see your brewery.
At the risk of swaying Dogger unfairly or unintentionally, can I suggest the list may include:
Cooper's Pale Ale
Cooper's Best Extra Stout
Little Creatures Pale Ale
James Squire Australian Strong Ale
A Matilda Bay beer (Redback?)
A Mountain Goat beer
A Cooper's Vintage Ale (2005 vintage)
Any other suggestions?
Oliver

You can count Pyssedas in - I will consult with the company treasurer as to the precise amount we can contribute but Dogger is certainly deserving...
I yesterday imbibed a few more of what he would call Dogger's Orange Aid [what we call Passification Day Dogger's Aid] which have only benefitted from a few more months [now about 6] in the bottle. A good recipe if you have never tried it
Huzzah for Dogger we say

Pledges more than halfway there.
C'mon Dogger post your wish list.
Oliver's go you off to a good starting point:
Cooper's Pale Ale
Cooper's Best Extra Stout
Little Creatures Pale Ale
James Squire Australian Strong Ale
A Matilda Bay beer (Redback?)
A Mountain Goat beer
A Cooper's Vintage Ale (2005 vintage)
I'd think about a Gippsland Natural Blonde, too.
Then there are beers like Holgate, Chopper, Blowfly, Jamieson, & Redoak to consider, let alone the big ticket items like Hahn Premium or Crown.

Grand Ridge MAKE Gippsland Blonde, actually, and I believe this so-called "shoopershine" exists only in your fevered imagination.
Really, you people need to take a long hard look at yourselves before picking on my honest and thoughtful ideas. I see this has been posted in your guest book-
I understand that the local PHI representative will be loitering in a hostelry not a million miles away from me tomorrow- if that person were to buy me a drink I may be persuaded to change my tune.

Huzzah indeed, wish I had written that. Hold on, I think I did.PHI, you manipulative cads, where are the photos from GIPC05? I thought a bunch of self serving egomaniacs like yourselves would jump at the chance to get images of your vile twisted bodies online.

put me down for a $10.
hey uc1 i could be wrong (& more than likely am) but don't grandridge do a natural blonde (hoegaarden style wit) & a gippsland gold?
I'm a big fan of malt shovel beers but i don't really rate the strong ale.. & much prefer the ipa.. (& the pilsner - until they moved production to the tooheys factory.. its pretty average now imo).. but i guess the aust strong ale could be more of an appropriate choice
