To dry hop or not

Post by Richo68 »

Hi guys, at the moment I'm brewing a CSA
Coopers sprarkling
1 tin of LME
1 Kg DLME
15g POR @ 15 min
10g POR @ 3min
This has gotta be my favorite drop! But as I am now into kegging I'm finding that it is excessively cloudy so I figured that I will start racking my brew before throwing it into the keg. My question is, should I throw another 10-15g of POR at rack or would that be too much total hops and therefore ruin the taste? Or perhaps some other type of hops?
Cheers
Richo

Gday mate.
If you like it how it is I wouldn't change it. Racking shouldn't change how it tastes, if anything it will improve it.

I'm a racker  :D

But if you dont want to rack then to get the clarity you can..

Cold condition the beer if you can fit the fermenter in a fridge.

or

hit it with gelatine 24hrs after you keg it and its cold, that will clear it up to bright beer in no time.

Obviously the gelatine option is the easiest as you don't alter any of your normal procedures and have any more risk of infection.

As for dry hopping, wont hurt the flavour too much, just will add some more aroma. Personal choice on that.

I rack too, cold chill & add gelatine. I didn't make myself very clear did I. The 'if you like it don't change it' comment was about the flavour of your beer.

I will try dry hopping, i want to wait ill I can filter though.

That seems like the hops are somewhat late for the style (and hop) already, IMO. I'm with rotten, if it ain't broke don't fix it. Just try finnings and/or secondary as suggested - or if your keg fridge (and willpower) allows try leaving the keg off tap as long you'd have let your bottles sit for the yeast to drop out on its own (I don't keg though, might be a reason this is a bad idea...?).
