Who's at work at the moment?

Post by Anna »

I notice there are 13 people on the forum at the moment. So, out of boredom, I thought I'd create a poll to see how many of you get on the forum at work or if you wait till you get home.

I'm at work. I've got hb&b set as my homepage so I may appear online more often than I really am. I will be appear as logged in every time I fire up IE.
Occasionally log on at home, mostly only on weekends.
Nothing interesting to see here, move along.

I'm retired from remunerated employment, and living on my own financial resources.
Just got home from my Thursday golf.
Being retired doesn't mean there's no work. I just finished the last job from re-painting the entire inside of the house. It's been a big job, we have a 5 bedroom house. My dad had a painting business, so I know how to do it to a professional standard. Reckon I saved us somewhere around $20,000 compared with paying commercial painters to do it.

Well Warra, I'm not going to be too sympathetic - you DID get to play golf!

$20,000!!! Looks like I'll be painting the new house myself when it's built - if ever... (OH is about as useless at painting as he is at HBing - pretty good at drinking it though! )

BTW - I put that 3rd option in the Poll just for you!

You really shouldn't let him drink paint, Anna. It's not for consumption! :P

I'm always logged on when I'm in the office. HB&B is much more interesting than what I get paid for.

hahaha! I amaze myself sometimes at what I've written (and I hadn't even been drinking!).

I'm always logged on at work too - it's the only thing that keeps me from dying of boredom. :?

At a place where I used to to work the boss was a real wine buff and would share a bottle with the other wine lovers at Friday lunch time. A few of us who preferred beer promptly formed an equivalent beer group and would take turns providing a six pack of something at Friday lunch. Helped Friday arvo slip by a bit easier as well. Anna, perhaps you could suggest pizza and beer Friday? :D

Earle - you must be psychic! As I grabbed my piece of pizza I said "Where's the beer?" but alas, we have a dry workplace! Just have to wait till home time. 8)

Nooooo! Couldn't think of anything worse. How do they get people to frontup at work on Fridays?
Come 3pm Fridays (as long as calender is empty) one of us will do a beer run and distribute stubbies to desks to make the last 2 hours bearable.

You must work near a train station? We are so far out west (of Sydney) that there is no public transport for miles, which means everyone has to drive to work and consequently, OH&S issues with duty of care, blah, blah, blah....

Train station is 200m away, but only train that leaves there, is the twice daily to melb. I could catch that, but that would mean jumping off at speed and then swimming the river to get home. Public transport in regional vic is nearly non-existent (cept for intercity).
Duty of care  , I drive company car home. We don't go crazy, sip on 3 stubbies 3pm-5:30pm, 5-6min drive home.

I sometimes sneak off early and head over to the RAAF base where i can buy mixed 6 packs of James Squire, Little Creatures and White Rabbit for $15 8)

Always beer floating around work on a Friday afternoon and often during the week too. Public servants......

I just don't go back to the lab after beers, stick to paperwork.
