So would a racking vessel essentially be the same as a brightening tank that professional breweries use ?

whirlfloc and irish moss
Greetings fellow brewers!
I've just started moving from extract into grain brewing and have about 4000 questions. But I'll start with just a couple :D
Regarding whirlfloc/irish moss 1) is there much diffence?
2) I've followed the packet instructions and ended with this photo! ( insert below ...

Re: Bottle to keg?
Simon, give your first batch another month atleast in bottle before trying again. Should be ok. I used to leave my bottles for 12 weeks min before drinking. Do not reprime, you'll get bombs..
Oh and the elephant.. Kegging after first batch? Slow down there cowboy you got lots to learn and you just ...

Re: lager temperature variations
I run an old fridge with a stc-1000 temp controller, which displays temp and has a power socket for heat and cool. So far I've only being brewing ales around the 18C mark, although a few months ago I would get up in the morning early before work and notice the temp down to 13C-15C range.

Leave it for a week or two more if you can.
I get a few batches that dont bubble and they turn out fine. Your SG readings tell the true story!
