thehipone thanks, I agree that the favour did seem to improve with temp. I must admit that I took my time drinking it as I wanted to try and savour the flavours. Still can't get past the alcohol "taste" though.

I promise I'll try another on in winter and keep the yeast if it impresses.

Buy the way ...

In my never ending quest to taste and maybe make some of the beers discussed here, I also bought a Beez Neez when I bought my Chimay the other day. Cracked it for tea tonight.
Impressions:
Watery
Not much flavour
Did have a honey tinge that was noticible.

Buy again? :?:

No. :x

Afetr reading this post rushed down to Dan Murphies and bought one 330 ml Chimay....$7.99 :(

Verdict:
Tasted stouty....seemed to keep changing taste slightly, I just don't know enough about beer tasting to describe it properly. Seemed like a beer more suited to winter drinking.
In the end, what I ...

They were great to drink out of, but taste was very very macro.

Guys, I bought three 1.5Ltr Grolsch for myself as Xmas presents. Wife was really impressed, but made it easy for her instead of finding present.

Each one came with 2 X 250ml Glosh beer glass's, which I dutifully keep cold in the fridge ready for action.
What a blast, two beuatifull glasses of HB ...

Hi

I use Grolsch bottles and add 5mls of caster sugar, this gives what I would call high carbonation, stopper gives a definant pop and when poured into glass, bubbles and head last for extended period. A bit champagne like really, but I like it.
I worked it out based on some books/guides say 7mls ...

It's the old 80/20 rule. Provided your out by no more than 20%, you'll be 80% OK.

Your fine just keep asking questions and taking notes on what you do and you be OK.

Well Canbera is a bit cold, though 5 weeks is probably pushing it.

I am like you though never had any probelems leaving it in a little longer than should, probably though max three weeks. I have a job that sometimes takes me away and it just has to wait. Happy to say always seems to be OK ...

Dogger

Yep

I reckon in the end it was too much trouble just for one family and you could very very easily start to drink too much.

I just love doing the beer now and find it quicker easier and a great drop. There is more scope to experiement as well.

Anyway hope these guys do their homework.

A bit like brewing beer.... follow the instructions and you get a great product.

The first third last third principle does work, however with a well regulated still you can basically do the following:

Boil off the methanol first, the still can actually stop when there is "none" left. then boil ...

Lay out and new heading text/font looks professional. Two improvements:

The body text font style (same as old page?) does not suite the new look.

The Glass looks stretched and unnatural. It would look beter with a correctly proportioned glass.

Hi

I like to buy a couple Grolsch if I can and save the bottles, don't mind the beer either, although at a restraunt or Pub... Boags Premium has to be my favourite bought beer.
I guess home brew never quiet tastes like anything else......just better.

I brew wheat beer.

Cheers

Hi

I agree. Think about it, most of the big producers have a range of products from cheap to premium. They do this by having a range of different recipes and ingredients.

Anyone who thinks they are getting the premium range when they are buying Homebrand, just because it comes from the same ...

Hi

I use napi - san (it's a bleach). There's always some in the laundry. I use a half a cup in a bucket of hot water, rinse each bottle 3 or 4 times in it and then flush with tap water, then bottle.

My whole washing rinsing and bottling takes about 1.5 hours, I use Grolsch bottles. Why wait to ...
