Oliver

Concerning your Stout with Oatmeal recipe.
Did it work as you intended it? Does it actually give the smooth creamy flavour?
I only ask because on another website forum. They suggest that the oats need to be mashed to covert the starches into fermentable sugars.

Another beer I'm keen to try is "Samuel Smith Oatmeal Stout".
Have any of you guys seen that at a bottlo in Metro Melbourne?

Sir Undercover

Is it true they sell the Sydney-based RedOak beers in your Acland Street bottlo?
I've been waiting for them to get some product down here. But nothing on their website suggest they have.

Keen for your confirmation, kind sir.

Great game.

Definitely proving our over reliance on McGrath and Warne.
I'd go as far to say, if McGrath hadn't stepped on that ball.
We'd be up 2-0.

Well done to the Poms.

Game on at Old Trafford.

Hey Guys

Those poms are a laugh.
Who ever dreamed up this game was on the really strong ale all night.

All good fun!

Subject: One man's advice to the English cricket side.

I've been studying the Poms...and I think I can help them. If we can find a way to pass on the following hints, we may be able to conjure up a competitive 2nd Test.

A) The ...

Saw the Old Surefoot 640ml at Purvis Cellars last Friday. Has a bottling date of July 2004 on the bottle.
Was keen for a taste but had to put the bottle back when they told me it was $21.

Did a MSB Nut Brown Ale. With WLP-001 Californian Ale yeast and added a Brewcraft Nut Brown Converter on top. Turn out big and malty. Unfortunately a little sour aftertaste, but that's another story.
Not bad though, quite like it. It's 3 months old now and seems to be getting better.

I once had a conference at the Fosters Group Limited HQ in Southbank, Melbourne.
Usual boring stuff. Then it turned 5pm, the conference finished and they opened the back double doors.
Like entering heaven.
There was a bar with beers from all over the world (they do import a lot of stuff) and all ...

The pommy cricket supporters are amusing.
They win a session of cricket and it's like they've won the series. :D

I remember living over in Ireland in '97 when Australia lost the first test to England in that Ashes. Everytime I past a pom, he was showing me how to block the ball. "This is how you ...

It's in yogurt as well.

I bottle with the little tap and bottler that came with the fermenter.
No syphoning done with mouth.

One thing I can think of. Is I didn't use to wash the bottle caps.

Is your theory it's something to do with bottling, due to the fact that lactic infection takes so long ...

I'm not sure and I've been racking my brain thinking about this one.
Can't seem to go to sleep.

Some guesses:
I often leave the fermenter in a garbage bin of water to use the waters natural temperature buffering properties. Could water be leaking back into the fermenter through the tap?

For a ...

Hi guys

The sosman went beyond the call. I am in much debt to him.
I gave him four beers for testing and got back eight beer judging sheets all filled out. Him and one of his mates tasted them on Sunday, just gone.

The news is mixed.
The guys have not detected any oxidation or bleach related ...

Top up water is not boiled. Straight out of the tap.

Pots are stainless steel, still doing just kits. Last two brews have been fresh wort kits, straight in the fermenter and top up with water (ie. no heating).

Started using cleaners with no chlorine components.
Have now washed both fermenters in ...

Yeah! don't know who's done their website.

But their beer and food menu at the actual pub is immaculate in the spelling department.

Should have mentioned something about it while I was there.
