muntons wheat beer any thoughts

Post by bangers »

hi again,
I called into grain and grape yesterday and picked up what I think will be a pretty good beer I got a can of Muntons connoisseurs range Wheat beer, also got a kilo of light wheat malt and a 40g packet of Halletau herbsucker hops (40g packet). I believe that the yeast is the main character in a wheat beer is this correct ? If so would I be wise to steep about 14gs of the hops when I mix up the brew then dry hop another 7gs for secondary ? I read that you dont muck about too much with wheat beers and since this is my first go at one I dont want to bugger it up any thoughts?

I'd go for about 10g for 5 mins boil and see how you go. Hop aroma is not true to style - as you say it's yeast driven.

Cheers,

Tim
