Just got home form an afternoon at Belgian Beer Cafe in Perth, sure there must be similar venues across Oz!!!

What a great place for a few beers, Hoergaarden on tap as well as Leffe Blonde and Bure plus many other great brews.

Really enjoyed the Delirum Tremens I finished up with as well as the Leffe Radeuse.

Top way to spend a few hours, also a friend of mine was playing there so great entertainment as well.

If you are in Perth, a great place to check out, might even stop in on the 2005 Intercontinental Pub Crawl :) :)

There's definitely one in Melbourne, 557 St Kilda Road

Sydney have two and Adelaide, Brisbane and Perth have one.

Apparently Fosters set's them up.

Perhaps Foster's realised that some people actually want to drink nice beer.

At the Melbourne one during summer you can't move.

Grabman,

Yes, top spot Belgium Beer Cafe in Perth is. I was there last December. However can't remember much (except that I have been there) of the place. Had the day at Feral Brewery. Sleep on the train back. Arrived back in the city and off to Bobby Dazlers and the pommy pub next door. Belgium Cafe was the last stop on the way back to the hotel. :D :D :D

sounds like a top day out!!

Feral Brewery is high on my list of spots to drin as well, shame it's so far out of the way! Although on way there or back you can stop at the IronBark Brewery in Caversham for a pint as well.

Does the Melbourne one still do beer appreciation courses on Sundays?

In Sydney i think the following are the best (forget the rest)

Belgian Beer Cafe "Heritage" - CBD
Doma Restaurant - Potts Point

Doma is very good...over 20 beers on menu (one on tap house beer). Average cost? $4.80/per 500ml bottle.

Grab,
IronBark Brewery in Caversham
Didn't make it to this one. Had a great honeymoon over there but. WA has to be the Microbrewery capital of Australia. Drank 44 DIFFERENT BEERS in 10 days! :D

Antsvb,

Too true we have microbreweries popping up all over WA, trouble is some don't last long (Bullant) and some are very limited in their range.

Will have to organise a bus trip one day to get to as mnay as possible!

There's a very new place called Elmar's (same guy owns the butchers in Mt Lawley). Apparently the food is as good as the beer.

I went to the Duckstein a few times, loved it.

Good news for Melbournites (particularly myself as I work literally next door) is that a new Belgian Beer Cafe will be opening in the Euraka Tower at Southbank.

Not sure if it will be on the ground floor or further up (it's got 92 levels), but personally I wouldn't like be travelling in an elevator for too long after spening the afternoon drinking Leffe Blonde.

There is also a place called the European Beer Cafe in the city, corner of Little Collins and Exhibition - it has a pretty similar set up to the Belgian I think.

I have heard someone say that they THINK there is a Belgian Beer Cafe at the Gold Coast, but couldn't confirm, give location etc. Anyone confirm?

The Duckstein is a top place, great beer, excellent food and a mechanical oompah band for a laugh!!

It's very costly. I am a member there (look for my stein in the cabinet, member #171).

I strongly urge you to visit Doma in Potts Point. It is far cheaper (Averages around $5/500L beer) as opposed to the $16.50 per L in the rocks (food is also exceptional value at Doma, the best being the Doma traditional platter at $16.50...try eating it all...)

To get to Doma get a train to kings cross station, walk 3 blocks down Victoria street and then take a right.

Also, look out for the new (yet to be built) beer cafe on York St in the CBD, it will open within the month.
