Beers for Sydney

Hi,
This is my first winter home brewing and with Sydney finally hitting winter in a big way I'm wondering what types of beer I should be looking at brewing.
My main concern is that Sydney doesn't really get below 6-8 degrees so I'm not sure whether it's cold enough for some brews.
If anyone has any ideas/recipes or experiences it would be great to hear.
Thanks,
Jon

Lagers and pilsners unless you have a heater belt

Warming Brew
Link above to previous topic with good hints for heating.
I have 4 brews on the go at the moment.
3 in a cupboard. One on the bottom with a heat belt and 2 on above shelf. The brew belt gets too hot, but the ones above are cooking at 20-22.
The third has my fish heater inside (sealed) and it also is at 20-22 with a jumper on it. It is not in cupboard.
3 out of 4 aint bad. I need a temp controller, but after some consideration, I am going to fill one keg with water

, the heat belt one

and stick 3 brews in the cupboard. 3 brews cooking with 1 heat belt
If the above is not available, cook Lagers with a quality purchased yeast.
Cheers
Boonie

Start of winter is a good time for a bock to enjoy for the end of winter.

A cupboard, a fridgemate and a light globe.
Any ALE you fancy. Same deal for summer with a fridge plugged into the light globe socket.
NOT AFFILIATED WITH FRIDGEMATE BUT I THINK IT'S ONE CUTE PRODUCT AND WILL ACCEPT ANY COMMISSIONS MODESTLY

)
Luv Geoff (the home brew's nice tonite)

If you are worried about the temps on lagers, just pick a more forgiving lager yeast- Saf is fairly safe, as is 34/70.
