Hi fellas,
Hows it going
Me not well. The last three batches I made have had a horrible taste of rubber in them. Ok the first one I dropped the grommet into so that is expected but the other two made in different fermenters i don't know. Maybe water from the water filter, bad yeast (safales04), temperature, light? Anyone got any ideas? Peace out.

What are you brewing? Kits?
Do you top up the fermenter with a garden hose?
Cheers,

What's your cleaning/sanitising routine?

A likely suspect

Probably more to do with sanitanization than a hose pipe. Either missed something and you've got an infection, or there's excess sanitizer due to lack of rinsing leaving some taste to the brew.

Palmer doesn't talk about rubbery tastes but maybe you can find something similar here.

I doubt it would be the grommet, I dropped my watch complete with skanky, cracked leather band into the fermenter and the result was the best bloody beer I've ever brewed. Oh yeah, apart from the watch I've done the dropped nto the fermenter the grommet and the end of the kitchen faucet, complete with rubber washers. There were no bad results from either of these brews.

Do you drop these things into the beer by accident, or are you performing some kind of experiment?
If I didn't know better, I would say you're actually my wife. I always know when she's about to drop something - she picks it up.

Ist off, I'm usually drunk by the time it comes to aerate the wort and pitch the yeast.
In the case of the watch the rotted old leather band decided to give way as I was furiously stirring the wort before pitching the yeast. In the case of the end of the faucet, it came loose when I disconnected my wort chiller and fell in to the jug with which I use to top up my fermenter without me realizing until I'd pitched my yeast and started to clean up.
Having said all that, 6 or 7 homebrews under my belt didn't help the situation
