Does anyone as a recipe for this one?
I was given a recipe that sounded pretty much like normal VB.
I was under the impression that this was a 'ye olde bitter' brewed as an ale.

One more thing, did you know CUB can brew a batch of VB in 20hours?

Thats probably why it tastes like it does.

So I'm guessing no-one has a recipe for this one.
If I asked for Mongolian Apple Dry Bleach Lager everyone would add their five cents, but 'cos it's not uncommon no-one cares.

Nah, I'd say no-one cares because everyone's too busy making interesting beer. I mean come on, this isn't a terribly exciting drop.

I think I've only had it once or twice, but if you want a tasty interesting bitter ale, maybe try brewing an IPA or something. How about:

Coopers India Pale Ale kit
1kg LDME
10g goldings @ 10 mins
kit yeast, brewed at or below 20 degrees C

I can pretty much guarantee that'll be as good or better, but I can't guarantee it'll taste particularly similar.

Once you get a bit more experience brewing, you'll be able to pick the different kinds of hops and other additives that are used in brewing most uncomplicated beers, and you'll be able to make yourself up some decent all-extract recipes. Till then, just experiment widely and build your experience, you won't regret it.

I'm going to put my first ale on next week(done heaps of lagers but never ale).
So far I've got 1kg liquid amber malt ext. some golding & cascade plugs, other dry malts and dextrose. Most of the stuff is just lying around.
I want a nice glowing colour ale so I was going to get a Coopers Real Ale and some sort of bittering hops (haven't decided what yet).
If anyone has any ideas, I can use anything or nothing and any hints to a good ale?

I wouldn't go too crazy with the bittering hops unless you add a lot of malt. Maybe try some goldings for flavour and a little cascade dry hopped for aroma (not too much tho, say 10g). Maybe 200g of crystal to give you a nice glow and caramel overtones (thought the amber malt already has some crystal in it, supposedly).

Haha that's right Colexis. It would be a bit like posting on a European sports car site, "does anyone here enjoy driving Kias"?.

Can of coopers draft
1.5kgs of light malt extract

The Carbonator made one a while back, I remembered his quote "I made VB" and found it in the search engine.

Hope fully he will see this and get back to you. I think he mainly used POR hop to get the taste, but I dunno what K&K he may have used.

this might sound ridiculous but a tooheys lager kit with brew enhancer 2and p.o.r. hops is pretty bloody close to a V.B meaning shit you can palm off to your footy mates while saving your malty goodness for your true friends!
