You can get rid of the chlorine by just letting your water sit in an open container overnight. You'd have to then boil it up to get rid of any bugs that might have gotten in (since there wouldn't be the chlorine there to kill them).

Personally I think the use of different waters (rainwater, mineral water) in a beer is a waste of time. Unless of course you were making a copy of Tooheys New or Carlton Cold, then I'd recommend filtering the water through ones body first.

You will strip the chlorine during the fermentation

Dogger is right.

The boiling point of chlorine is -34C (-29F) and it leaves no residue, so I'd be worried if there's any in your finished beer!

Chlorine neutraliser is Sodium thiosulfate. God only knows what that does to you!

Cheers,

Oliver

Or more importantly what does it do to the Beer?

That stuff (sodium thiosulphate) breaks down adding sodium to the beer and the sulphate joins with some hydrogen along with a few other neat little reactions to produce hydrogen sulphide. (rotten egg smell)

You have to agitate the beer in order to get it out.

Yummy
