I once had a Carton Cold on a hot day and I hadn't had a drink for about a month, and it actually tasted good.

When I have the misfortune to drink terrible beers like this, my first though is always "This doesn't taste too bad. Maybe I've been too hard on it". But the second and subsequent sips confirm that they are, indeed, terrible and without a redeeming quality.

I am with you chum, sometimes cold and paid for is good enough, although I have never had a Carlton Cold. Mind you I have had an Old Millwalkee

As an aside, and please don't take offence, if it comes in a can and you can pull out of a bucket ice and its so cold you get a brain freeze then I can normally get it down my throat with no issues, unless its San Mig, never did get the taste for that one

I loved Mexico, you bought a pale of ale and they brought it to your table in a galvanized bucket filled with ice and a half dozen bottles with the caps on still, dewey old bottles. Saw dust/wood chips on the floor, people with guns, now that was quality drinking. Very similar to Bangcok, just a lot slower.

From a bloke who spends a bit of time each year in the Philippines (and has drunk more San Mig then many of the locals even ), that is a bit tough!
Besides, which San Mig are you talking about: San Mig is the brewery, there are a number of beers in their range.

oh yeah, and San Mig beers are made in many countries (maybe there is a clue there that not all share your opinion DD ): although I guess the recipes are meant to be the same, there are differences.

We picked up cases of it in Manila, I am pretty sure it was a white or cream can with red lettering and I swear it said "San Migual" on it. I am pretty certain it didn't say anything else except some fine print.

Anyway, we had problems giving it away, and suprise, I have never seen it here, might have been counterfit.

That being said, I am no Chimay fan either and there are people that like Bud, which as bad as it is, is known world wide so the size of the brewery means Jack. Im not criticizing anyones tastes here, just saying, me and about 1000 other Canadians didn't like it.

If it said "San Migual", it was most certainly counterfeit

Never drunk it from a can, so I couldn't say which once you had. I am happy to drink their Pale Pilsen (especially as the hotel I stay at gives it to me for free!). In Australia, we don't see this one: only their "Super Dry".

We also don't see their "Light" (light in calories, not alc.), nor their "Negra" (dont you PC types jump on me for this: it is what they call it!). I recall there is at least another one as well (is it Red Horse, or is that from India?). Yeah, I know, "google is my friend" Wasn't too impressed with Red Horse, regardless of where it comes from.
