What volume are you topping up to? Try topping up to 20 to 21 litres instead of the more common 23L.

Doc & Gym,
How about you guys stop posting pics of full beers (any mug can bounce a head on a beer :D) & get with the program. HEAD RETENTION!!
The Topic!
How well do they cling to the glass after being drank, you should be able to see the rings from each mouth full.
& the whole point of these posts is that it has less to do with the ingredients & more about how glasses are washed, stored & chilled?

Focus guys, Focus! :D

A good call there. There is a thread somewhere on the site about ways of cleaning glasses. I agree wholeheartedly that a bad glass can ruin a beer.
On the other hand there were two questions in the original post.

One was about flavour and the other one was about head retention.

The one about flavour is definitely about ingredients.

My two bob's worth about the glass and glass cleaning is simple.
1) The shape of the glass influences the pour. Euro lager glasses are slightly indented at the top. Ale glasses are a little more open at the top.

2) I wash in extremely hot tap water, nothing else. An alternative is to quickly rinse in cold water. This seems to leave a residue which provides a clinging surface for the next pour. Downside of that is that the glass will slowly discolour over time.

Cheers
