I bought a second bottle when they reduced the price. Interesting but challenging beer. I agree, worth a try just to expand the horizons.Guru wrote:A longneck of Gage Roads limited release Belgium Dubbel Chocolate Ale (titled Abstinence)). A nice amber colour and probably the most chocolaty beer I've ever tasted. Smells like freshly baked chocolate brownies. Hints of caramel and chocolate on the taste, and a strong alcoholic mouth feel (it is 7.4%). Not sure I'd buy it again but worth a try.
What are you drinking now?

Yeah I reckon it might be a good desert beer to share with someone else. Would probably go well with a chocolate pudding or something similar.

Worth a try, but I was a bit underwhelmed by it.earle wrote:I bought a second bottle when they reduced the price. Interesting but challenging beer. Coopers Extra Strong Vintage Ale. Now this is a good beer. I would be happy if I made something like this.

Moo Brew Imperial Stout on tap. A fine beer. Just what you would expect: Pitch black, an intense, lingering bitterness, full mouthfeel and light carbonation. Not overly roasty, but delicious.

Re: What are you drinking now?
HB English bitter. Maris Otter, a bit of wheat and a touch of choc malt, hopped with EKG and Fuggles.
Absolutely magnificent. One of my best efforts, I think. It's low-ish on alcohol but very big on flavour, particularly when at cellar temp.
Homebrewing rocks!

My latest Pale Ale, with 6 different hops...Warrior, Centennial, Citra, Amarillo, Cascade and Galaxy. 70 grams added between 20 and flameout, with 50 grams dry hopped. 5.2% abv, 41 IBU.
Easily my best PA ever, fantastic citrus/stone fruit aroma, and fruit bomb flavour. My first BIAB partial mash brew too. CrookedFingers gave it the thumbs up last night too!
I only bottled it last Friday, so it's a cheeky taste (as per our other thread)...but the last few bottles I fill always carb up quicker than the rest, and they're well carbed already.

I'm 3/4 of the way through a carton of Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. Trough Lolly is responsible for this expensive exercise. Damn you, I love brewing this
P.S. I just had to use the drool icon

Re: What are you drinking now?
Boddington's Pub Ale.
Tastes of malt, hint of honey and a smooth bitterness. I suppose on re-reading that it sounds like a pretty good beer, Yeah? It's just beer. Not bad, as such, but nor was it remarkable. Just another session beer.

Feral's Hop Hog.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Attempting to be enthused by the cricket. Not even trying to hit the ball isn't filling me with much confidence.
Dulling the pain with my oaked, oat porter. Oat malt, not oatmeal. A large oven tray worth of cut up oak staves after 20 mins at 180c dumped in the keg ~6 weeks ago. Quite oaky but with some fruity characters coming through which must be due to the oak. Loving how much it is changing week to week.
Going to throw some oak into one of the kegs of cider (pressed, organic johnny apples plus white labs english cider yeast) which I am now having a pint of.

I have to say more. I want to have Feral Hop Hog's children. I'm tempted to bathe naked in it, or at the very least rub it all over my body. And for those of you who've met me, yes, that would take a fair amount of Feral Hop Hog.CrookedFingers wrote:Feral's Hop Hog.

I partook of a few pints of these at the Alehouse Project recently, and it's even better on tap....

Re: What are you drinking now?
Speaking of Hop Hog, I was pretty surprised to find it on tap at Young and Jackson in Melbourne the other night, along with some other good stuff such as Coopers Stout. It's the last place I expected to find either of those beers.

Ha !
Way to much info Weizgei !....but I am close to agreeing with you !
I have had it on tap before also, very very nice and would love to visit the Alehouse Project one day. I've heard its great !
During good beer week at the terminus in north fitzroy I had a pint of barrel fermented hop hog on tap....wow. That great hop hog flavour with a hint of vanilla
So good.
Would never have though Young and Jacksons would have it though.
Thats awesome.

Re: What are you drinking now?
Yes, me too Oliver, I dropped in there to meet a mate last Saturday morning, before we headed over to the Matilda Bay brewery for our bi-annual punter's club piss-up err I mean long lunch. I can tell you that a pint of Feral Hop Hog at 11am tastes just as good as at any other time of the day!Oliver wrote:Speaking of Hop Hog, I was pretty surprised to find it on tap at Young and Jackson in Melbourne the other night, along with some other good stuff such as Coopers Stout. Re: What are you drinking now?
CrookedFingers' #18 IPA. Holy smoke this is a great beer! HUGE hop flavour and aroma, thick creamy off white head, and the kind of bitterness you'd expect from an Imperial version. Bloody great drop. I think I had a bit of a head cold coming on, now I can't feel anything....
