BETADINE

has anybody used betadine as a steriliser , its available at 40 dollars for 2 litres from vetinary suppliers , sounds cheaper than brewshop ,what rate of dilution would you use , any ideas , it must be similar to iodophor , any help please ,sid.

It would work to some degree, but I'd want the phosphoric acid that's in idophor too.

As for dilution, you are looking about 12-13ppm free iodine. You'd need to work out the conc of iodine in the Betadine and work backwards.

I use sterex which comes as a powder in a tub, 1 scoop equals 2.5 litres and one of them lasts me over 6 months for $20

not to talk up iodophor too much, but a bottle is $6.95 (plus postage if ur lazy like me) from g&g and it'll last years cos you dilute it so heavily...
