Kev, you know my opinion on the term 'food grade'....
I reckon the buckets are the go, easier to get the beer out of than my 5L glass demi johns. I have a jiggler siphon which isnt the best since it stirs up the brew quite a bit!
I use the same buckets for 'measuring' my water for brewing and also for storing the one shot when sanitising the brewery.

If my fridge shelves are strong enough to hold them I could potentialy fit 12 in at a time, which is three 24L batches at 6L per bucket.
I would have to rig something up to keep the rubberband from creeping down the bucket and letting the cling wrap come away from the bucket, though I have not tried it looks like the sides are at too much of an angle for the band to stay up on it's own.
