Just wondering, for the fellow can brewers, does wheter the company is Aussie or not come into your decision when purchasing a tin, or is it more a taste, cash or flashy label thing??

Does for me. Been brewing for about 7 years now and just (sunday) put down my first Black Rock for this reason. Have always found plenty of range between Morgans, Coopers, Goldrush etc to keep me happy. However am probably willing to change my thoughts if this one turns out ok as I guess its not any different to buying imported commercial beers.

Yeah, knew goldrush is now kiwi. And they've stuffed it up big time. Ain't what it used to be.
The brewer that made it here has some new kits out but. Can't remember what they are called; rapid creek or something like that?

Just did a Google search. Appears that it is Rapid Creek.

Anyone tried them?

The Rapid Creek range appears to be an "own-brand" of The Country Brewer retail chain. I've just bottled one of their stout kits so I'll let everyone know how it goes. I brewed it with a 1kg tin of Morgans Black Roast Malt extract and 500g of dry amber malt extract, and when I racked it to secondary I added 600g of blackberries that I steeped in 60 degree water for 10mins to pasteurise (Dogger - thanks for the tip on that one). Pretty promising straight out of the fermenter so we'll see how it is in a month or so.

"Just who is getting your money?"
With the multinationals, it's very hard to tell isn't it? But does it really matter?
I will buy whatever represents good value for my rupee, be it Australian, Australian branded or even from Mother England. I prefer Joe White grain, or produce of other Australian maltsters but I am having some specialty varieties coming from Mother England or Germany.
Grain used in brewing in the home may be only some tiny tiny part of all grain being used to make brewing and baking malts in Australia. I have no issue with a small part of a small part of such a craft going internationally, even to my home country isn't it.
