Extract Pilsner

Post by Wassa »

If anyone has an all extract recipe for a Pilsner using 5% AA Saaz could they please post it for me.

Or if someone has Beersmith or another brewing software could they run a recipe through it and give me water quantities and hopping schedule utilising 3kg of LDME.

Thanks guys,

Wassa

Wassa,

Try:

2 x 1.5 Kg tins Coopers light liquid malt extract
250 Light Dry malt

75gm 5%aa hop 60 mins 44 IBU
25gm 5%aa hop 15 mins 4 IBU

I've based this on a 10 L 1110 gravity boil. Then add water to 23 L for an OG of 1046.

A lager yeast of your choice.

Cheers,
Greg

gregb, that looks pretty bitter. Definately a beer with balls!

I might just have to give it a go.

Ya gotta remember Blandy that a good Pilsner is supposed to be crisp.

I reckon with the Saaz it'll be great, Saaz on top of Saaz...Yummy!

A simple rule with Pilsner; Use only Saaz hops, and there is no upper limit.

You and I think the same way Greg.

Tried a really good lager last night. Was an Xtract lager with 12gm of Hallertauer teabag and 12gm of Saaz dry hopped, put down with Saflager S23.

It was what every Good lager should be and seldom are. I am going to put it down myself but use the Whitelabs WLP830 German Lager Yeast. I reckon it'll be a killer with the same hopping schedule.

Greg,

Put down 2 x Xtract pilsners on Sunday.

First brew was with 150gm of steeped Pilsner grain, 15gm of Saaz dry hopped and with the budejovice yeast.

Second was with 15gm of Saaz dry hopped and with W34/70 yeast.

Will be interesting to see how they turn out. the one with the W34/70 will give me a good reference for the one with the budejovice.

Still yet to brew it. Would be looking around about 1010.

I got a similar one going over the weekend - 2.5Kg ldme 70gm Saaz 60 mins and 20gm Saaz 15 mins for an OG of 1045. The hops came in a 90gm pack. SAFLager W34/70.

Cheers,
Greg

mmm, brewed this with S23 and has been 10days @12c. Currently sg is 1016. I thought that it may go a bit lower, 1008?

After doing a couple of kit beers with saaz, I think I'm in love! (With Saaz that is...)
