Cost of Keg Set-up?

Postby DJ » Thursday May 24, 2007 9:02 am

Hi guys,
I'm looking at getting into kegging..

I have a fridge already so what sort of cost am I looking at to get one 19L keg and all lines, taps etc etc...

I assume you can get full setups from some brew shops or would I be better trying to get the stuff myself secondhand??

Check out http://www.craftbrewer.com.au

The prices depend on the type of set up and taps you want, but a a rough estimate for fridge door set up.

1 x keg $60
Regulator $100
1 x tap ($40 - $70)
Shanks and attachments for fridge door $40?
Disconnects $25
Beer and gas line $15
Check valve (not needed but a wise investment stops beer going into your regulator) $25

I saw Country Brewer has a full setup for around $400 but that includes 2 kegs.. wouldnt be a bad idea to have 2 I guess...

I can just have one aging at room temp cant i??

Yep, I have two cornies and one smaller 12L SS. You can see them here. I just have one with beer in it conditioning at room temp, then when the one in the fridge is gone I swap it in.

Also note that you need a gas bottle, which you get on a rental arrangement.
