Doesn't surprise me Earle. It is a great beer from a really easy recipe. I have a batch ready to drink now, in fact I tried one on the weekend and it is awesome.

I have made this one previously and enjoyed every last drop, Im putting this one down today using the Cerveza and Light extract I will dissolve 20g hops as Oliver suggests then dry hop as Earle suggested by chucking in 20g prior to sealing the fermenter, I keg my brew so will report once I sample it.

Glad it's working out well. Haven't nailed the recipe since I've gone all grain but have made some good versions nonetheless. Have recently made an amber version with cascade and galaxy based around mountain goat fancy pants amber ale, good stuff.

Thank Earle
Have you posted an all grain version here, would like to give it a try
I am set up for all grain but I get lazy occasionally and find it less hassle
to throw brew together using extracts

All grain version is
3.5kg pale ale malt
1.5kg wheat malt
10g cascade @ 60min 5.2 ibu
10g galaxy @ 20min 9.1ibu
15g galaxy @ 10min 8.2ibu
20g galaxy @ 0min 0ibu

This brew is quite nice but I'm still playing with the malt bill. Either needs a little less wheat or a bit of crystal.

Hey Earle,

What were your gravities and ABV? What yeast did you use?

I think this will be my next beer. It's important to keep the little lady happy :-)

Cheers,

Oliver

I just put another extract brew down today, I had some dried orange peel left from
saisonbrew so put 10g in at end of 30 min boil will see what effect it has in a month
or two

Hi Oliver,

OG was 1048, fg would have been about 1010-12.

I've been using us05 yeast just like the extract version.

As above I reckon it could use a touch of light crystal.

Cheers

Recipe looks great and importantly, easy. As I'm new to brewing I just wanted to clarify if the recipe calls for half of the malts or does the 50 percent refer to something else? Also how long after bottling should I wait till I crack one open?

No, the "50%" next to each of those malts is just showing the percentage of the total malt bill taken up by each of those malts. You need to use all of both tins for this recipe.

If you keep the bottles somewhere above about 18 degrees, you can open one to try after maybe 8 or 9 days...but normally you should wait about two weeks. But 'coz you're new...no harm in sneaking an early one!

Just emptied another keg of this brew and ready to get another underway, this has become a staple brew for me, so easy to make and a lovely drop, the trouble is a lot of friends have had a taste and keep coming back for more !!!

I dont have wheat but do have crystal wheat. I'm thinking %50 of that and the other %50 Munich of the wheat part.
Or just do the wheat portion crystal wheat.
Thoughts ??

Do you mean replace the 1.5kg of wheat malt with 1.5kg of crystal wheat? If so, definitely not, you can't sub crystal in those sorts of volumes, it'll ruin the beer. You'd be better off replacing the wheat malt with extra pale ale malt. You can add some crystal wheat in the mix, but no more than 500 grams I'd suggest.
