Re: Yeast Starter
, and add another 2 litres of starter on top. I'll crash that again and repeat the process with a couple of litres of actual brew wort, and then pitch the whole starter.
Is that the way you always do it before you add to your fermenter.

Stepping up starters
A quick question when your stepping up starters eg 100ml 500ml 1000ml and so on do you after 2/3 days of fermentation keep all the beer and pour into the next step up, or do you decant off as much beer as you can and just pour the yeast slurry into the next step. Because I think the DME is spent ...

Conditioning Question
Can you gas a keg and leave out of the fridge to condition for a month or so, as I only have 1 beer fridge to brew in and keep kegs in. I only just bought a keg set up and very green in the ups and downs.
If you can do you fully gas them[270/300kpa] or do just purge to oxygen out.
I think it shouldn ...

Starsan
Can you use starsan more than once I was told no. I mixed up 4ml to just over 2lts and left it in the fermenter fridge at 9c or should I leave it in my beer fridge never used it before. I just use it when I need it in a spray bottle only and let it dry no wash after.

I did an Oktoberfest yesterday AG. On my pre boil of both runnings combined I got 1.039 and post boil in the fermenter minus the yeast I got 1.051 both were calculated at 20c. Does this sound right.

Re: Marga Mill setting
Thanks Biernut I bought it from Ross and have already set it up with the down pipe and catcher. I bought it a month ago and haven't used it yet and I forgot what they told me and thought it was 0.9mm. And I will modify the hopper like you say.

Re: AG problems
Thank's boys for your responses. If I think I'm short you suggest I add water to the brew kettle prior boiling and not to the fermenter. And when I boil I have a very soft boil all through and stop the clock when I add my chiller in till it reboils and then restart the clock till to 60mins are up.

AG problems
I've done 2 AG beers and on both times I have had to add water to the fermenter to make up the volume of 23lts.
The 1st time was a simple pilsner of 5kg total grain and was told to do 3lt per kg of water at 66c for 1hr then 5lts for mash out drain then another 3lts per kg for sparge boil for 1hr add ...

Is it better to have the manifold slits face the bottom of the esky or the top. I have a 44lt with a copper manifold if that makes any difference.

Well it's my 38th b'day on Tuesday. And it took me about 2 months to make and buy all my equipment between checking these sites and utube to see the best way to do things.

From k&k to AG.
Being a public holiday in Brisbane yesterday. I thought it would be a good time to use all my newly made and bought AG gear for my first ever at AG. A little nervous due to not making the progression from partials to AG just k&k staight to AG. It does take alot longer but I think it was worth the ...
