Re: Beersmith help
I am by no means an expert as I've only used the trial version but no the program doesn't give you the recipe as there are so many different recipe's for the same style beer. It will give you an idea of what colour, ibu's etc should be for that style but not the ingredients. Try doing a search on ...

I'm looking for some cascade Rhyzomes, will be getting a cluster one soon (hopefully) but don't want to spend the $50+ on ebay for some Cascade. I'm willing to pay, but not that much!!

Re: Fridge for Sale & free bottles Outer Eastern Melbourne
Hi timmy, sorry I've taken so long to reply. Had an op and haven't been on the net for a while. I will post a pic as soon as possible. I reckon it would probably hold atleast two, but maybe three. I'll check dimensions and see how many when I post a pic.

Re: Fridge for Sale & free bottles Outer Eastern Melbourne
If there are no takers for the FREE bottles they will end up in the recycle bin next Monday. I live in Croydon sth area and work in Mordialloc and could possibly drop them off if that makes it any easier.
Will consider offers on the fridge.

Fridge for Sale & free bottles Outer Eastern Melbourne
Hey guys,
I have a DEC Stainless Steel fridge, used to be the one from in the house but it needed defrosting too often, sometimes four times a year and I already have two fridges in the shed. I would've kept using it but my brother upgraded and gave me a five year old fisher paykel for free so the ...

Thin Stock pots, bad??
I've found a place with very cheap stainless pots but am wondering if I shouldn't spend the extra and get something of commercial quality. What's your opinions? I haven't been to the shop in a while and I'm not even sure if it still exists, but they had 70L posts for around $65 from memory. Like I ...

Re: Coldstream Brewery
I went there with the wife about a week ago. Tried everything they had twice and got a six pack of Piilsers (the only one you can buy in bottle). Enjoyed their Ale, fuggles and East Kent I think. Bloody delicious. The winter ale was ok but it's not my style as much as a tasty pale ale. The Pilsner ...

Re: Cost to move up from Partial Extract to Full Grain?
timmy, what market are those cheap pots at? I have been looking and haven't found any at markets yet but have found cheap SS one's at an old Bunnings store that is now a discount place but they are pretty flimsy. Have they got anything bigger than 40L??

Re: No Krausen on my starter after 7 days
I don't really remember it foaming up when I mixed it but I did swirl the tube to get the sediment out and when I opened the tube it foamed out the top and I did loose some. There is more sediment in the feet than was in the tube as far as I can remember though. I will take a hydro reading tonight ...

Re: No Krausen on my starter after 7 days
Is there any use taking a Hydro?
It's in a softdrink bottle and in the "feet" of the bottle is about 15mm of yeast sediment. When swirling it hasn't really picked it all up either and it seems kinda caked there.

No Krausen on my starter after 7 days
I got given a starter from the HBS for free as it's use by date was Feb 11th 08, made starter by boiling 100g LDME with 1 litre of water cooling and adding that and Whitelabs California ale WLP051 into 2L container. Only airlock movement was when it was picked up and stirred. No krausen though and ...

Re: Alas, I Have Found My One True Love!
I tried pixelboys NS recipe a while back and am hooked. I was addicted to Amarillo but once I tried NS I was hooked straight away. I've only done 4 different recipe's and none have been lagers yet but one of the most simplest recipe's I've ever done was also one of the tastiest. I'm waiting on more ...

Re: Manifold
If by stopper you mean something to clamp the end of the braided hose then you can just get a bit of metal and fold it over the end and flatten with a hammer. With mine, all I did was fold the end over and flatten the braided hose with a hammer, I did this three times and it's worked a treat.

Re: Summer+beer=dilemma
Now if you are lazy and a tight arse like me you could just put the wort in the fermetner, wrap in a wet towel and direct a fan at it. The next morning it has always been ready to pitch. You don't even need to bother with the fan usually. Haven't had one infection yet and the beer still taste's good.

Re: How to brew with an injury??
The worst part is the brew fridge and keg fridge are in the garage and I brew inside. So actually making the brew is not as much of a problem as getting the fermenter and kegs to the fridge's. There is also five or six steps as the decking steps down. I've been thinking of using my trolley but would ...

Re: How to brew with an injury??
Hi Swainy, I'm in Croydon south. I too have no brewing friends, it's a lonely day when brewing. Luckily I have the beer and dogs to keep me company. I was going to brew Saturday but since the wife is home Sunday I think I'll just do it then, that way she can do all the heavy lifting while I sit back ...

It would be the perfect solution but I only have two friends, one guy will be playing cricket and the other is 200km away and has a bad back. I might just have to wait for the wife then.

How to brew with an injury??
I've recently torn my ligament and done cartlidge damage (not sure on the spelling there) and am using the wife to lug around the fermenter and kegs etc. I want to do a batch on the weekend and will need help but she isn't around and don't have anyone else to help.
So the question is, how do others ...
