Sour

A well-presented beer. Light straw coloured with a tight, white head. Smells OK, with a bit of fruit coming through. But then you get to the taste, and it's not good. Sour and just generally not right. A shame, because the beer looks lovely and like it's going to deliver when it comes to taste, but it is my sad duty to rate this as terrible.

Bullant Double Bridge India Pale Ale
A dark copper-coloured beer with low carbonation and a head that disperses to a thin head around the glass. Malty on the nose and malty to taste, perhaps a little too much. There's a hint of this not being fermented out fully. Having said that, I really enjoyed it. That slightly-too-sweet taste disappears and gives way to a long-lasting, intense, grapefruit-like bitterness. And as it warms to room temperature it improves.

For a start it's not amber, so it falls at the first hurdle in its claim to be an "amber lager". More golden.

Oliver: "I haven't tasted this one yet but it smells better than the last one." (Hump Back Pale Ale.)

Owen (having had a sip): "It smells better. It's not diabolical, but ... It's definitely better than the last one, I'll give it that."

A reasonably sweet nothing beer, with little hop character.

A little sour, but less so than the Pale Ale.
