cryofine - any users here (yeast haze remover)

Post by goq11k_76 »

hey all, tried a search but got nothing. long time listener, first time caller it seems

I bought some cryofine to reduce yeast haze in my keg beers. it only takes .5-1 gram per 25 litres.

Asking around a few home brew shops i have no real answer as to when to add to wort in fermenter or in keg (before or after carbonation etc).

Is there a true 'procedure' that peoples have done before that I can follow.

Background info:
Wort is fresh wort packs from ST Peters. Usually Pilsner and/or original Porter. US-05 (red pack dried yeast variety). In glass carboy for generally 3-4 weeks. No racking. It seems to be good and clearish on the original porter, but hazy on the Pilsner so thought i'd try a clearing agent before going to a filter (should just get a filter but Rudd hasnt given me another boost of economic relief yet!)

Tried wacking the brew into a microwave (above 10degC) to see if its only chill haze but it still is cloudy.

Obviously there are other products out there to reduce yeast haze, maybe I should have asked before buying, but i thought i'd give this stuff a go.

Cheers all in advance for knowledge given.
Brendan.

I think this kind of product is added when the primary fermentation process has slowed right down. I guess after about 4-5 days...depending.

Sorry. Should have mentioned that in the first post.

yeah I will add after head of wort clears of any bubbles and let sit for another week at least, apparently it hardens the trub a bit with its clearing technique so dont want to add to keg and push through poppets etc.

cheers

Good luck. I'm yet to try any finings in my brews. I'd like to hear how it goes.
