Coopers Pale Ale

My husband (who is the drinker of my beer, not me) says my recent Coopers kit Pale Ale has a "honey" taste. It was brewed, as usual, with Coopers Brew Enhancer No.2 and the yeast that comes with the can. All my previous brews have been fine. Anyone know what this means?

Hi Anna ,
A few things that may help .
1Cooler weather may not let your brew ferment out in primary or in bottle could leave some mlt/maltodex flavours.
Do you use a hydrometer to measure f.g. 2 or 3 stable readings before bottling.
Temp control of your brew .If it fluctuates wildly can induce some funky tastes.
Ditch the packet yeast and coopers instructions and read things that make basic brews better sticky at top of this
forum.

Thanks Wrighty! You may be right about the temperature fluctuations. That brew started at around 20-22C but then the cold spell hit and I think in the second week it was down to around 12C at night! And then carbonating around 12-18C (amazingly tho, it's nice and fizzy with a good head!). BH reckons it's a bit too sweet, so maybe I'll inherit that batch. As long as it's not infected.

Sounds like it needs a little longer in the bottle if you can get them to 21-22c store them in a nice dark spot ,
im sure they will be good in 1 or 2 weeks. if you can keep the him away from his beer for that long
So you brew and he just drinks it

Opposite in my house. Lucky bugger

... and I see you use the same motto as him: "I'm not an alcoholic - I don't go to meetings"! (PS - I make ginger beer for myself)
