Glucose ?

If I add some Glucose to a K & K kit will that give me a higher alcohol percentage ?
I have seen in some higher alcohol beers etc. Leffe blonde and Duvel kits they use Glucose.
Just wondering what would happen if I add it to say a Coopers Ale kit, or would this stuff it ?

The glucose will add nothing but alcohol...

It's about flavour,..Kevnlis is spot on. Sugar makes alcohol. More sugar makes more alcohol. The question is...do you want to have other things in your beer apart from alcohol?
If I was in a POW camp then any sugar, water and yeast would be heaven...it would taste shit by our standards but be absolutely beautiful to any prisoner.
Your question is about sugar types. Leffe etc use different types of sugars combined to get a result.
For higher alcohol and flavour think about stouts, porters...stuff with more malt sugars. Then you are looking at hops to balance the sweetness.

The aim of Belgian strong ales is to raise the alcohol level without adding too much to the flavour...
If you do use glucose you need to make sure you pitch at the temp you will ferment at, this is much more important in this case as the yeast will start to produce EthOH+ATP immediately.
