Carbonation with long fermentation

Can anyone tell me how long i can expect it to take to carbonate after fermenting for 2 weeks.I put down a Coopers Bitter ,used Coopers dextrose and thermostatically set immersion heater 24 DEG.O.G was @1038 and F.G.1007.I used a measured dose of white sugar for each bottle .I tried a bottle after 6 days but had virtually no carbonation.Previously i brewed a Coopers Real Ale for 5 days,at a higher temperature (during the last hot spell namely 30 deg plus),didnt take any s,g, readings, and it was well carbonated and reasonable to drink after 7 days. N.B. I carbonation drops for the previous brew.
