Hi All,
I'm looking at doing a cerveza this weekend and will use the recipe recommended to me in my thread in the recipes section.
Couple of q's regarding adding hops and racking.
When i add the hops to the wort, do i need to strain it out before i add it to the fermenter?
If i dont, then how do i prevent it from draingin into the bottles/second fermenter if i rack it?
Is racking necessary, and for how long should the beer be racked for before i bottle it and at what temp?

Also, one last one(sorry), Does anyone have any links or instruction for converting a fridge to a brewing cupboard as i see a couple of oyu are using this method instead.

Cheers Heaps,
Chris

Hi Chris,

I'd leave the hops and let them go into the fermenter. They will generally settle into the yeast cake so they won't end up in bottles.

Racking can be done if you need, but it's not absolutely necessary. I'd rack after a week and then leave for another 2 weeks then cold condition.

To convert a fridge you need some sort of temp controller (do a search for mashmaster on this forum). This runs between the power point and the fridge and shuts it down the fridge when it gets to the desired temp.

Cheers,

Tim
