Hi guys just wanted to check LDME - does that mean Liquid Malt Extract, is this the same as LIght Liquid Malt ?
Whats the difference with Liquid Malt and the Malt powder ?

LDME = Light Dry Malt Extract

The difference between the Dry and Liquid is that the liquid has about 20% water in it.
Thus 1 kg of Liquid is equivalent to 800 gr of Dry.

For what it's worth, and based only on my personal experience, I think using all liquid, rather than dry, produces better beers.
I don't know whether this is related to some changes in the malt from the spray drying process or whatever.

The last ½ doz batches of beers I made before going AG were done using unhopped cans of liquid malt, with specialty grains, and quality hop pellets. Whilst I wouldn't say they are as good as the better AG brews, they certainly were pretty good beers, and didn't suffer from kit twang.

The only brew I ever made using all LDME turned out to be horrible, and it was an excercise I never repeated.
