It isn't that easy. You can get sourghum extract (there are some blokes in Brisbane selling it), but it is very expensive and still requires a full batch boil because it is unhopped. The best way to go is AG. Sourghum malt is about twice as much as barley malt. It is much harder to use as well and requires more time and knowledge. I would suggest that if you are not already a fairly advanced brewer you do a fair bit of research into the subject before starting.

Check out Narre Brew Supplies in Narre Warren (SE Melbourne). He sells GF extract kits and apparently they're pretty good.
There is an article in the current Beer & Brewer mag about GF beers too.

Tim

Seems the above-mentioned place now have gluten-free kits available - I was wondering if anyone had tried them but I guess not after I couldn't find anything on here.
Anyway, here is the link.

Will be looking to try these soon, so any info would be appreciated.
Oh, and its not for me - I still have the full world of beer available to me!

I heard in a podcast that Wyeast now make a soecial yeast for gluten free beer.
Appears the yeast has a large affect on it.
Cheers,
Chris

My LHBS is a Country Brewer store and the chap that runs it (or at least used to) once brewed a celiac-friendly beer using entirely rice malt. Was the most bizarre thing as it looked like soda water but tasted like beer.

Are you sure the LHBS owner wasn't Heston Blumenthal in disguise? That sounds like something he'd do. You know, icecream that tastes like steak and that kind of thing
