Hello all,
Just wondering how many brewers out there have had a shit beer they have made and have had to mix it with another beer to make it a little more enjoyable to drink?
Im not sure what the problem is but I think since ive made a few nicer beers(partial boils, all extract, spec grains, fresh wort kit) now than from what I did at the start, the earlier ones just dont seem that great anymore?

I think I'll try mixing it with another beer when I drink it. I've gotta say that since I've started using hops properly (not just a teabag steep) and spec grains, and taking a bit more consideration about what I put in a brew, I'm happy with every brew that I've made. Unfortunately I still have several cartons made from randomly mixed kits and liquid malt that don't seem to quite cut in anymore. But if I mix them with my twocan porter you never know. All in the name of science of course.

Yep, I've got too many bottles of a real ale/something else twocan which turned out bitter enough to turn my mouth inside out.
Drinking it as a black & tan with another miserable tasteless "lager" may well be the better option than using it as snail killer.

I have a Robust Porter in the shed that has a distinct vegemite flavour. Not totally off putting so i have kept it and drink a bottle every now and then. All i need is some buttered toast to go with it and i am a happy man........
The yeast was a 6th generation 1098 and i didnt smell or taste the starter.....

Yes, I made a two can(coopers stout and real ale) without putting any sweetness in it and it is nice but quite bitter, so last night I used 1 stubbie of twocan and a stubbie of another lighter colour beer and it comes out not to bad(still not as good as the better beers ive now been making).... Where there is a will there is a way...
Those kit beers, IMHO really do need malt, grains, hops and proper yeast. I really dont know how people just do kit and kg...
I have a spoiled palate though, I like things done right...

A nip of Stones Green Ginger Wine does the world of wonders to beer, and it gives it a bit of a alcohol kick also....
We used to just drink the first mouthful of a stubbie and then top it up with a nip..
