Loss of a Good Keyboard...

A few nights ago, during a routine browse through the forum, I spilled some of my precious dark ale all over the keyboard, and after a lengthy clean-up most of the letters worked no more.
Going shopping tomorrow for a new beer resistant keyboard, for I am sure this accident is bound to happen again, as it always seems fitting to be enjoying a cold one, while reading about another one...

Now see I had the opposite, I spilt beer on my keyboard last year and after cleaning worked no worries, a month later spilt a little bit of water and zap - no more keyboard.
Oh well, now I use a notebook so my beer stays further away as it will be a few more $$ to part with....

I've heard of people putting their keyboards in the dishwasher after similar accidents. Apparently if you let it dry out so that it's completely dry inside it usually comes out fine...

I have the coaster placed so that the glass doesn't pass over the laptop on it's trip.
Cheers,
Greg
ps: I've moved this from Making Beer to General Discussion.

And now I find myself fibbing...I have my latest ginger beer right next to the laptop between my mouse and the machine, oh well. 3 weeks ago it did smash from a bench, gotta love those extended warranties...!

You can buy a waterproof keyboard - the entire thing is coated in silicon, and can roll up for easy transport. The design has the average LAN participant in mind more than the clumsy brewer, but I'm sure it still works just fine
There are also somewhat more expensive waterproof ones, solid but priced for industry.

My dog took out my keyboard. There was a clap of thunder, the dog shot under my desk, snagged the keybord cable on the way. The keyboard didn't work after that.

So, Moby, lemme get this straight, you couldn't do your homework ... because the dog ate the keyboard?
Cheers,
Greg

you're not *required* to install those drivers, they're for the multimedia buttons etc

A mate of mine spilt ink on his keyboard at work years ago. Instead of just owning up to a stuff-up, as these things can happen, he took it into the kitchen, stuck it in the sink... etc etc. I wouldn't put it past him to use detergent. he's not the sharpest tool in the shed.

It's not the dead keyboards that worry me, it's the blatant disregard for the lost beer!
