today i was on my way to get groceries and i stopped by a cafe for a chicken shcnitzel lunch special, at the end of the meal i went up to pay and saw the lady punching in the order, i said, ohh wasnt the lunch special $7 , she said oh was it? and reduced my price, when i went outside i realised that the special was from the cafe across the street, not the one i had just eaten at, does this happen often to other people?

im wondering if i can do this more often, since people in cafes are a bit more lax than people in fast foods.

it reminded me of an article i read a year ago where a guy went around for month and everything he bought he asked the person if the price was firm, hhe got a lot of really great deals that month,

i also just read Freakonomics, good read for anyone interested in looking at life in a different perspective.

Yep, Freakonomics is a great read. My 1st year microeconomics lecturer reccommended it.

And buscador, it's amazing how much money you can save if you negotiate stuff. Supermarkets are the only place that you can't.

That reminds me of something that happened 25 or 30 years ago when I was working for McDonald's. Occasionally we would give a customer a coupon for free French fries, a free hamburger, etc., especially if the customer received poor service, to invite him to visit us again. It was called a Be Our Guest card. A fellow came in one day and handed us a Be Our Guest card for a Big Mac. As we were supposed to do, we took the card and placed it in the cash drawer to be counted later. He asked why we took the card, and he said, "I've gotten 32 free Big Macs with that card."

Harvey Norman especially, I have never paid full price at the one down the road from home, whatever it was I was buying (modems, printers, dishwasher etc) simply asked is that the best price and bam, at least 15-20 off for almost doing nothing!
