Are all you people culinarily challenged? Lets get more discussion on beer's best friend!
Who here cooks with beer? I mean in the dish, not whilst making it.

The only time i use beer to cook with is when im doing a BBQ and it gets poured on the meat while its cooking ( cant beat it) oh and when i make batter which isnt very often

Yeah, it's great over meat. My GF hates beer, and probably would complain if she knew I did it. I haven't had any complaints yet.

My missus hates beer and never knew but she kept asking why my BBQ's are so good and i finally gave up and told her, she got a bit shitty then shrugged and realised that she loves it so whats the difference, You cant have barbequed meat without beer on it, also gives you an extra excuse to be drinking one ( not that i need an excuse, I tell her exactly how it is then run like hell)

Mine loves it too- but she perfers the meat not to be barbequed first. It makes for too many awkward moments.

/liberally applies much hetero man-love as well
ahem. back on topic, I've used beer in cooking a bit. of course, on the barbecue and in batter, but i made a couple delicious family sized meat pies using HB stout as a base for the gravy.

I think beer is just as good IN food as WITH food. I don't like to get too full coz then I can't drink anymore...

In a stew a dark ale is good. A light lager or ale in a batter etc.
Of course, who can forget the 17 schooners (NSW, 425ml) it takes to psych your self up to a kebab.
Cheers,
Greg

i've heard of stout being used very effectively in batter. would make it darker, but apparently the taste is fantastic.

Don't cook 2-minute noodles in beer. Tastes crap.
