Good Bottle Shops

I'm having trouble finding a decent bottle shop that has a really good selection of local and imported beers (in Melbourne)
I have Dan Murphys, Liquorland and Safeway nearby at Glen Waverly. But i'm not really happy with selection you get there. My mate in Croydon has a independent bottle shop selling lots of local small micro brews like Jamieson's, Hargrave's Hill (Yarra Valley), Buckleys ... etc. That's what I'm after.
What's your favourite bottle shop and why?

In Ontario we only have two. The Beer Store (where the beers are) and the Liquor Store although you can get beer at both you can only get liquor at the one. You figure it out.

In QLD The Grape is by far the best selection. Vintage Cellars are also pretty good, don't they have them down south too?

The Liquor Superstore (used to be Theo's) in Keppera, Brisbane also has an excellent selection of beer and wine.

I haven't been to Acland Cellars in Acland Street, St Kilda (Melbourne), for a while, but they're reputed to have a good selection of beer.
Cheers,

In Melbourne, there's an independent store on Glenferrie Rd, cnr Henrietta St, Hawthorn. Been there a couple of times as my son lives close by. They have quite a few different beers along with their wines.
Can't remember the name though.

Our Vintage Cellars in Donvale has a pretty ordinary selection, but Vintage Cellars is part of the Coles Myer group so it doesn't surprise me.

What's wrong with Coles Myer?

Coles Meyer are great if you want to buy the popular items at relatively cheap prices, but if you want something special or not so common then I find them to lack that kind of stock.
On second thoughts, I haven't been there for a while now that I've found homebrew.

Oliver,
Yes I do work for Coles Myer. I am a LiquorLand store manager.
Coles Myer Liquor Group includes LiquorLand, Vintage Cellars, Quaffers and Theos.
The range in Liquorland is reasonably limited but Vintage Cellars and particularly Quaffers usually have a fairly decent range. Vintage Cellars and Quaffers should be able to order products in for you as long as they're not too obscure.
I can't comment on Theos as I've never been in one (they only operate in NSW and QLD)

Do any of those stores stock Bass Pale Ale stubbies??
Have tried to buy in Oz in stubbies since enjoying O/S a couple of years ago
Would appreciate any info on tracking it down

I just went to vintage cellars in WA and they had a pretty big selection of beers. (was the dalkeith store so probably a lot of old people with a lot of money to spend)

Jeff,
Vintage Cellars and Quaffers can stock Bass Pale Ale. If it's not in stock just ask for it (you'll probably have to buy the slab) and it should be ordered in for you. Quaffers is cheaper than Vintage Cellars so if you have a Quaffers near by go there first.
As for my store... I'm actually in our head office at the moment whilst recovering form knee surgery. I go back to stores next week but at this stage I'm not exactly sure whereabouts. Somewhere in the North Western suburbs of Melbourne though.

I reckon you can't be a big Dan Murphy's store, but i still can't buy Dos Equis in Melbourne, i gotta make an excuse every year to the Mrs to go to FNQ for a tasting, lol
