Small scratches in old black fermenter - ok to use?

Post by jd »

One of my old fermenters has heaps of scratches in it - not deep gouges but big enough to see and feel. I've read about scratches being a good source for getting bugs in the brew.

Is it too risky to use, or will a good soak in napisan followed by a hit with Morgans Sanitize make it ok?

For the price of a new fermenter, I'd get a new one.

1 fermenter: $25
1 batch of beer: $15-20

I would buy a new one, as one lost batch wastes almost as much money as the shiny new fermenter would cost.
