Was washing out some bottles for my brew which will need boittling this weekend when I was thinking of how I need a bottle drying tree but cant afford the $50 or so...

Then I realised I had a few old "skid" pallets in the shed, so with the help of a spade bit in the drill, I whipped up a bottle drying rack that holds 42 bottles (wasn't big enough for 48 ) for free! Gave it a quick trial and when I came home tonight my bottles were pefectly dry.

I realise Im not the first one to do this, but it does feel mighty good to have made my own bottle drying rack as opposed to buying one

$50! That's pretty expensive.

You can have your free tree, since I bought mine, it's paid itself off many times over. Especially with the bottlewasher on top. Damn convenient.

yeah, admitedly mine doesnt have a washing attatchment on top...but isn't that just for squirting sanitiser into the bottles (you still need to scrub?)

I never need to "scrub" my bottles. They get rinsed well as soon as I empty/drink them then all they need is another rinse and sanitise before bottling next time.

I've never (and hopefully never will) had to scrub bottles.

Bottling sucks enough as it is, why make it harder.

Yeah, you only have to scrub them if you've let them go mouldy. Only done that once (early on) and now I rinse all my bottles immediately.

Im with you there m8 i rinse all mine straight after use and i only steralise when the time comes, never had a problem

I get most of my bottles from the local recycling centre where I work on weekends. I have no idea what has been in these bottles so I always scrub before first use. No scrubbing required after that though.

similar idea, i use the large off cuts from security grilles as my bottle drier, diamond pattern is perfect

I steal most of my bottles from a local aged care facility where the dental/oral health is notoriously appalling - I favour heavy scrubbing to remove the saliva of the elderly

no, not married (only 18) but do have a girlfriend of 3 1/2 years

and yes, she puts up with me talking about my homebrew...constantly
