Sticky of acronymns to help newbies?????

Post by AlcoMoo »

Oliver, I sent you an email (from this site - so I have no record of it in my sent file) but just wondering if I needed to post request here??? It was about the possibility of haveing a sticky done for the making beer thread that contained acronymns and the like.

I've seen a few things posted - mainly receipes, but other beer making chatter as well, that contians a lot of initials. Whilst I'm sure that they are like reading English to those that know what they mean, for newbies like me 8) , I have no idea what is being spoken about.

I thought that having one place that all this stuff could be kept would be better than individuals asking what something stands for (eg LDME ??or something like that!!) in individual posts.

I know there is a search funtion, but sometimes it is difficult to find the answer if that term is a commonly posted one.

Just a thought anyway......

Not a bad idea at all. Shove it in 'Recipes' as that is where the TLA's seem to appear most.

By the way, LDME is Light Dry Malt Extract

TLA Three Letter Abbreviation. May also be a MLA for Multi Letter Abbreviation.

Alcomoo,

I did get your email, but have been off the air for some time.

In the meantime, NTRabbit has set up the following as a sticky (I've moved it to the "Making beer" section. Sorry NTR!). Hope it helps.
