Hi there,
i'm a newbie with only a couple of kit brews under my belt. I currently have a pale ale brewing with a safale yeast, so far so good. My next idea is a lager kit replaced with saflager. My Q being, if i pitch at 12ish degrees will my beer stay cool enough in a constant twenty degree room? or will i kill my yeast? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Your yeast wont die, you might just end up with a bit of a fruity flavour if its brewed outside of recommended temps for the yeast.

Hi Morgs,
your best bet is to pitch the yeast at around 20c to get it off to a good start then let the temp drop to 12c.

Thanks tipsy

yeah my allocated brewing area is more suited to ales i think. i live in an apartment and the laundry hovers around 20c. I think im at the stage that requires me to experimant a little more. Trouble is i might find it hard to get the temp down.
