Just been up to the local RSL and ha about 10 schooners of Tooheys Dark ALe.

I know there are a lot of knockers of Tooheys, but IMHO this beer has to be the best available commercial Black in Oz. It tastes great, goes down a treat and doesn't give you the queezy guts and headache that VB etc do.

I know I'll get my knockers but I just LOVE IT!!!!!

Agreed

My first regular commercial beer .................... very nice

Drinking too many can effect bowel movements the next day

Cheers

Hopefully there isn't too many knockers of Tooheys Old. Easily the best out of the usual 6 beers on tap (VB, New, Reschs, Carlton Draught and Hahn Light) in Sydney. You'll also be surprised by how many New drinkers have not tried Old and when they go black they don't go back.

I am a big fan of Old but this wasn't always the case. My first one was on school muck up day and it wasn't good. Years later tastes matured and I have warmed to the loving embrace that Old seems to bring. Not much else to choose from on tap down at the club so Old it is.

I really like Old - it's my drink of choice at the local - but anything past 6 schooners - doesn't agree with me.

I've been told that 1/2 Old + 1/2 New is a good mix - but haven't got around to trying it.

I'll also go a couple of kent olds - especially toward the end of a big drinking session - they r very easy drinking.

Must be a homebrew thing. Old is the only beer I like to buy at pubs.

Yep, same here. It's also one of the very few beers I'll go and buy a case of from the bottle shop (the other being the odd JS Amber Ale). It is a fantastic beer on tap and bloody good from the bottle too. Even the missus noted how good it is compared to other standard Pub beers! (she's generally not much of a commercial beer drinker). Now that's gotta be a good thing 8). Cheers!

Funny thing is you see mostly the old blokes drinking Old...perhaps their taste has improved with age?

Having said that, I don't mind Old either...last week at the trough I looked down and spotted a grey! I must be getting old

I prefer big cool pints of Coopers Sparkling Ale at my local. I'll have to give Old a go, though I'm not sure if I like dark ale or not.

Ahh, Shane, don't tell me that - I'm only 24!. Meh, not gonna stop me from drinking it though.... Sorry to hear about your unfortunate discovery!
