Does anyone know what makes up the various beer kit enhancers that are available. Just looking thru some of the crib sheets supplied one has seven different, named additives another at least 12. and of course most HBS have their own. Since I usually end up over time with bags of left overs if I could find out the various content % maybe could take the quesswork out of using
these up instead of dumping

These kits are made/designed to be used in one brew as a whole. If you start splitting them or only using 1/2 to 2/3 of them you will have inconstant results as you will get different amounts of different fermentables every time. If using these premixes use them whole if you want less go to a HBS and ask him to mix up what you want all good HBS will do this for you. Or buy bags of straight light malt, dark malt, dextrose, whatever it is you need and make your own mix.

My advice is do not split or part use these kits. You will not achieve consistent and repeatable results.

thks Shaun, I should have pointed out that taking that into account I always re-package if I'm going to experiment with split portions, giving the original a good mixup before using. So far so good, but well worth u pointing out the pitfalls

Just use malt.

All my brews use the same combination of 1.5 kg of liquid malt extract,200 grams of wheat malt and 300 grams of dextrose,giving a consistent gravity of 1048 at start.This mix never fails to give a good brew.
