Glass or Plastic Bottles?

I'm just about to bottle my first ever brew, and boy I'm Thirsty. So, what's the go - glass or plastic? I'm thinking plastic for simplicity, and as I'm a tight arse I'm considering going to the recycling depot and getting as many 1 litre plastic soft drink bottles as I can carry.
Any thoughts from the more experienced brewers?

You can bottle into PET bottles no problem, but I have found they don't store for more than 5 or 6 months.
If raiding recycle bins I would go for brown glass bottles as you can be more confident in cleaning/sanitising.

The Glass definately
In Order
1 - Brown 750ml Crown Seals (esp Pixaxes & Coopers)
2 - 800ml Brown Twist tops
3 - Any other twist tops
4 - Italian green crown seal mineral water bottles - 1 litre or 500ml
5 - Coopers bottles 740ml OR the dodgy brand of ginger beer at the supermarket for 76-99 cents which is in brown Plastic/PET 1.25l bottles
6 - Green PET (7up & mountain dew)
7 - clear PET (try to really keep these out of the light)
If using PET bottles the comercial soft drink bottles are a lot thicker than the coopers bottles. Also the caps are alright to re use and realy you can use any cap that has come off a normal softdrink bottle.
Make a notice up that you are after longnecks & put it up down the supermarket & people WILL call.
Have fun & happy Brewing

I'd certainly have the old-style 750ml crown seal bottles (XXXX, Pickaxe (which Coopers used), NSW Bottle Co, Victorian Bottle Co-operative, etc) at No.1.
At No.2 I'd have the new Coopers crown seal bottles, which aren't as good, but still pretty darned good for homebrewers looking for a sturdy bottle.
Cheers,
Oliver

You are a stern judge Oliver.
If you can get the new Coopers 750's latch on and don't let go. You could almost not go wrong with them.
Cheers,
Greg

Coopers are in line with the returnables in my mind because the returnables are getting on in years. The coopers are thicker than most new & commercial bottles available on the market, and they look good too. The Hahn longies are thick too, but are annoying to clean and store.
That's why I put them up their equal first. I am aiming to have 600 crown seal long necks (20 brews worth) and I wish I could afford them all to be coopers. I have 60+ really old pickaxes and 100 + Cubs so far as well as some odd XXXX (old type, really good) and others.
