Im just postulating a few different beer recipes to myself as i watch us well in control of the English. Some personal recipes, something to try after i've attempted three or four I've gotten from this site and forum.

I was wondering to myself, could I use one of the cheap Coopers Real Ale kits to make an Amber Ale? Add 1kg of Amber DME or maybe 1.5kg of Amber LME, maybe 200g maltodextrin. Would this work, or produce something interesting? Would i need to add some hops to this as well?

Postulate with me please :)

NTRabbit,

Try a Morgans Royal Oak Amber Ale as your base kit. Should only cost you a couple of dollars more.

Cheers,

Greg.

Made two ambers recently, one a James Squire clone.

The other based on a Muntons Amber Ale kit with 1kg morgans Caramalt, 500gm Wheat Malt, wyeast London ale, made up to 21L. This is a great beer!! OG was 1046, FG 1008 giving an alcohol content of around 5.3%
