Bloke who lives across the road works for Boags.

He gave me a "Strongarm" bitter. Tasted like medicine.

Has gone to the top of my worst beer list......

Had a James Boags premium and it tasted nice not alot of flavour or aroma though....but this was straight after the above beer.

Had the light as well and it was not bad, just a little watery and no aroma/flavour.

Last Friday I had a "Hunter Draught"......filth, it is just the Blue Tongue draught re-labelled....my mate did warn me when I was buying it.

Boags Premium was a staple for a while when we would have Friday drinks at The Mint (William St). Boags Draught (in a bottle...) is not too bad for what you pay for it.

I found a new winner in Bondi Blonde. Take the worst qualities of VB, Carlton Cold and Tooheys Red and throw them in a beer and you'd still have something that tastes better than Bondi Blonde.

Crown Lager is definitely overrated. Sticking fancy gold all over a bottle doesn't raise the quality. Thank goodness the father-in-law has run out of the stuff. I've now educated him into real beer, by buying him a slab of Cooper's. I now have a good reason to visit! Last time at my place he even appreciated the homebrew. It's never too late to educate people into real beer. Mates, your site rocks, and it's on my favourites list.

Great part of the world you live in. Retired, & with a father in law? And you've converted him, at his age, to Coopers and home brew?

Tooheys Extra Dry Platinum - Don't get me wrong, I wasn't expecting much, but this was beyond any beer I have ever tasted. Each sip (four sips total) was like putting your tongue on a 9V battery. Not exactly painful, but not pleasant. Had to piss in my own mouth to get the taste out.

I believe Tasman Bitter Is the worst beer ever made. A mate of mine completely ruined his 21st by having it as the only beer available. Tastes like hoppped battery acid!

However considering its popularity VB gets my vote. Though calling it a beer at all is giving it too much credit

I've only had 1 Tasman Bitter about 3 or 4 years ago, but to my memory it was not good but not that bad either

Tasman Bitter ain't as bad as other stuff on the market and for $30 a case you get what you pay for.

My worst beer memories aren't on the list either.

Anyone remember Millers in Sydney or was it just the Oceanic at Coogee that managed to get the drain from the dishwasher connected to the beer taps. You had to be drunk to drink it but you couldn't drink it to get drunk

Bali Bintang, dry like soda water and an awful aftertaste.

Powers from Qld about 15 years back. It must have had a lot of time in the sun on it's way to Sydney. Yuk.

Swan, Emu, Tooheys Red and a crook case of Melbourne Bitter are all memorable.

I don't mind an occaisional Cold but it pays to think of soft drink, not beer.

I had a pint of Boddington's at Irish Murphy's in Geelong that had the taste, aroma and appeal of a dead fish that had been left in the sun for two weeks.

The only reason that VB is ranking higher than Bud, is simply because people are more likely to drink VB in Australia.

I can assure you that VB is pretty damn tasty after a few weeks of Bud/Coors/Millers.

Actually, Schlitz made both a beer AND a malt liquor, two different products. They still sell the beer, and I think also the malt liquor, to this day, but I think they're under different ownership from what they originally were under.
